Her obituary: Sandra Faye Colson, October 18, 1943 – April 29, 2023. Sandra Faye Colson, 79, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away April 29, 2023 while under hospice care. She was born on October 18, 1943 to Charles Kessler and Ruth Veal Colson of Scotland, GA. As a young woman Sandra was known for her striking beauty and love of life. She played basketball for Telfair County High School and was crowned homecoming queen. She also proudly competed in several pageants including the Miss Universe Pageant Georgia Finals. She spent many years as a homemaker before working as a secretary at Sprayberry High School. She later joined Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA. She was always amazingly organized, friendly, thorough, and dependable. Her quick wit and fast one-liners brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was an exceptional baker and cook, avid gardener, and devoted bird lover ... especially hummingbirds. She also enjoyed riding in her bright red Jeep and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. Her family was important to her. She was especially proud of her daughters and grandchildren. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles Gordon Colson of Hampton, GA. She is survived by her daughters: Sandi Hollomon (Stephen) Dennis , Atlanta, GA and Sheri Hollomon (John) Thacker, Maysville, GA.; grandchildren: James A.R. Jar Carroll of Augusta, GA, and Colson Avery Dennis of Atlanta, GA.; Brother, Buddy Colson, Crawfordville, FL; Nephews: Kessler (Amy) Colson of Crawfordville, FL, Marc (Anita) Colson; and Nieces: Regina (Scott) Gray and Zondra (Wayne) Barber; Great-Nephew: Griffin Colson, Crawfordville, FL. Family visitation will be held at Mayes Ward Dobbins funeral home on the Marietta Square Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:30-11:30am with memorial service at 11:30am and repass to follow immediately.
