Ray Owens. Sgt. Owens died on December 10, 2024. He was a campus policeman in the late 1970s and early 1980s. This is his picture from the 1978 Echo.

His obituary: Rev. Ray J. Owens, February 2, 1940 – December 10, 2024. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rev. Ray James Owens, a beloved husband, father, and faithful servant of the Lord. Ray was born on February 2, 1940, and was called home on December 10, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Ray was the devoted husband of Judy C. Owens and the proud father of three daughters: Laura, Wendy, and Kimberly. Survived by his grandchildren; Tyler Bauch, Austin Bauch, Bryson Porter, Michael and Emily Willingham. Great grandchildren Elena Bauch, Elijah Bauch, and Kanan Bauch. Brother Gene Owens. His love for his family was boundless, and he found joy and purpose in their happiness and successes. A kind, funny, and gentle soul, Ray had a way of brightening the lives of everyone he met. His humor and warmth left lasting impressions, and his unwavering faith was a guiding light for all who knew him. A devoted Christian, Ray lived his life in service to the Lord, exemplifying love, grace, and humility in every aspect of his life. Ray's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the beauty of a heart filled with love for the Lord. Those who knew him will always remember his smile, his laughter, and his quiet strength. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. As we celebrate his life, we are comforted by the knowledge that he is at peace in the arms of the Lord. Services to honor Ray's life will be held at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth. Visitation will be Friday, Dec.13th 4-8pm. Service will be Saturday at 1:00pm. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. – John. 5:24.
