J. C. Powell, teacher, 1954-1968. Mr. Powell died on December 31, 1993. This is his picture from the 1961 Echo which was dedicated to him that year.

His obituary: John C. Powell. The funeral for John C. Powell of Sandy Springs, a retired math teacher at Sprayberry High School in Cobb County, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Marietta, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell. Mr. Powell, 91, died of Parkinson's disease Friday at home. He had been honored as the Red Cross volunteer with the most hours at Kennestone Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Warren Powell; two children, Kathryn Adcock of Sandy Springs and Elaine Hamby of Kennesaw; five siblings, Mattie Butler, Clifford Powell and Geneva Powell of Duluth, Forrest Powell of Shakerag and Wynelle Powell of Duluth; 10 grandchildren; and five great–grandchildren.
