His obituary: Gale G. Acuff Sr., 83, retired principal – Gale G. Acuff Sr., 83, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Cobb County, died Friday. Services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Dr. James Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Kitts Cemetery in Grainger County, Tenn. Mr. Acuff was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Emory University, and served as principal of Blackwell, McEachern, Fitzhugh Lee and Big Shanty schools in Cobb. He was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Selma Acuff; two sons, David Boyd Acuff of Georgia and Gale G. Acuff Jr. of Texas; two daughters Alice Kathleen Acuff and Sally A. Freyberg, both of California; two sisters, Alice Loy and Christine Montgomery, both of Knoxville, Tenn; one brother, Zane Rucker of Knoxville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
