Her obituary: William Bickers, 66, World War II veteran. William Carlos Bill Bickers Sr., 66, of Marietta died Tuesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church in Marietta with Revs. Jim McGraw and E. Lawson officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. The body will be at the church at 10 a.m. A lifelong resident of Marietta, Mr. Bickers served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Emory University at Oxford and the University of Georgia. He was a retired code specialist with the Georgia Board of Electric and was an electric inspector with the city of Marietta and Cobb County. Mr. Bickers taught in the Cobb County School System and at Chattahoochie Technical Institute. Surviving include his wife, Virginia Jenkins Bickers of Marietta; two sons, Bill Bickers Jr., Paul N. Bickers, both of Marietta; one uncle. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta is in charge of arrangements.
