Her obituary: Bessylee Smith, 78, Marietta resident – Bessylee Smith, 78, of Marietta, died Wednesday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hay-Gantt Funeral Home in Marietta, with the Rev. Dr. Carl Goad officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. A native of little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Smith had lived in Marietta 45 years. She graduated from the University of Chattanooga. Mrs. Smith taught English and typing at Sprayberry High School, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Piedmont Road Church of Christ. Survivors include her sister, Marion Wiggs Butler of Marietta; two brothers, Bert Wiggs, Jr. of Tennessee and Carl Wiggs of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
