His obituary: Mr. Holt. Barnard Shipp Holt, 59, of Marietta died Thursday. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta. The Rev. C. Scott May will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Duncan, Miss., Mr. Holt had lived in Marietta for 21 years. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He had worked as a counselor at Paulding County High School since 1976. Survivors include his wife, Lucia Lummus Holt of Marietta; one daughter, Courtney Janett Holt of Marietta; one son, Barnard Shipp Holt Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Charity Fund, 161 Church St., Marietta, 30060. The family will receive friends at the residence. Mayes Ward Funeral Home in Marietta is in charge of arrangements.
