Her obituary: Ann D. Poteet, October 24, 1916 – December 7, 2014. Ann Poteet, 98, of Marietta, died Sunday, December 7, 2014. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 10th at 2pm at Piedmont Church with Pastor Steve Crowley officiating. The remains will be at the church at 1pm. Interment will be at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Poteet was born in Bettendorf, Iowa and was raised there in an Armenian Community. She graduated from the University of Iowa and went on to receive a Master's Degree from the University of Wyoming. She moved to Northeast Cobb in 1962 where she became a teacher for Cobb County Schools. She taught at Bells Ferry Elementary, Osborn Jr. High School, Sprayberry High School, and then retired from North Cobb High School. During her teaching career, she taught Chemistry, Physics, and French. She was a charter member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She spoke three languages: English, Armenian, and French. Mrs. Poteet is survived by her son, David Poteet, of Marietta; daughter, Victoria Ann Bettis, of Athens; and grandchildren, Eric Person, Anna "Khaki" Janusz, Kent Person, Britt Poteet, Logan Poteet, and Reagen Poteet. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9 from 6-8pm at Marietta Funeral Home.
