Her obituary: Dawn Michelle Nolen (Tyson), aged 56, passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Everything Michelle did was rooted in love. She gave it freely, she gave it daily, and she made sure that her children and everyone she touched carried it with them.
Michell was born on August 29th, 1969, in Marietta, Georgia, to Fred and Jewell Tyson. She grew up in a down-home southern household in Marietta and attended Sprayberry High School and Kennesaw State University. She married the love of her life, Steven Nolen, and together they walked through every vow of marriage for 35 blessed years. They put down roots in Kennesaw, Georgia, established a home, grew lifelong friendships, traveled the world, and poured everything they had into raising their two boys. Michelle was employed as an AP clerk with Enforcer Products, and later Zep, Inc., prior to having her second child. Her true life's call was raising her boys. But to know Michelle was not to know her by career or achievements, it was to know her heart. Michelle lived her life to be a Mom, she could often be quoted saying, it was all I ever wanted. Everything she did was for her two sons. She was there through every stage of their childhood in a way that was unlike anything you've ever seen. She pushed them to succeed, challenged them, raised them up in praise, showered them in love, and dried their tears. She was their best friend. Anyone who knew Steven and Michelle knew they were in it together. Their marriage was a calm, steady love built on partnership, and when sickness began to take it's toll, Steven became her caretaker in a way that few spouses ever could. Michelle loved people. She loved the beach, the water, traveling, and music from ྂs Yacht Rock to country to Southern Gospel. Her laugh had a magnetic southern twang and could often be heard ringing out through moments with friends or her silly son Trent. She was a devout Christian whose life was guided by three pillars: faith, family, and friends. She prayed over her family and raised them in church. As a friend, Michelle was the one who felt more like a sister. She showed up for the people she loved with fierce loyalty, and she made every moment count. She was a girlfriend through and through. The one on the phone for hours, the one out at lunches and dinners, the one at concerts, singing and dancing and making sure everybody had the time of their lives. She was a spitfire to be around, and the people who loved her knew there was nobody else like her. After years of battling a disease that slowly stole so much from her, Michelle never stopped fighting with courage and faith. Though MSA took away her physical abilities one by one, it could never take her spirit. She was called home far too soon for those who loved her, but she lived a life fully and faithfully fulfilled, and she now rests in the perfect timing and peace of the Lord. Michelle is survived by her husband Steve, her sons Jared and Trenton, her parents Fred and Jewell Tyson, and her sister Beth Lehmann (Michael). [Funeral Program, Northstar Church, Kennesaw, Ga.]
