Class of 1984

Jennifer Martin. Jennifer died on February 24, 2021.

Her obituary: Jennifer Leslie Martin, July 6, 1966 – February 24, 2021. Jennifer Leslie Martin of Marietta, GA was called home to God on February 24th, 2021. She leaves behind a loving family including her parents, William and Margaret Martin of Marietta, GA, her brother Alan Martin (Jeannie, Zach, Zane) of Cumming, GA, and her sons Justin Hess (Caroline) of Chamblee, GA, and Dillon Hess (Danielle) of Sandy Springs, GA. Jennifer was born on July 6th, 1966 in Marietta, GA, where she lived for her entire childhood. Growing up, she was an active member of Roswell Street Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as a youth group leader. She graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1984 where she was a dedicated cheerleader and student. She went on to attend college at Georgia Tech where she graduated in 1988 with a degree in Business Management. Upon graduation, Jennifer began her career in Atlanta, working in shipping and logistics with SeaLand. Shortly thereafter, she met her former husband with whom she had 2 sons. After returning from her first maternity leave, it took her just one day to realize that she was meant to be a dedicated stay-at-home mother and homemaker, a job that she excelled at and was clearly made for. Always fully involved in the things she cared about, she served in many different volunteer roles such as class mom, team mom, president of the neighborhood women's association, and captain of her tennis teams, among many other roles. A natural leader, she was never afraid of the spotlight and had a bright, engaging, and infectious personality that always drew people in and inspired confidence and comfort in those around her. Jennifer loved music, singing and dancing - especially to any kind of 70s and 80s music, ABBA always being one of her favorites. She also enjoyed all sports and was her Sons' biggest and loudest cheerleader in the many that they played growing up, as well as for her Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Jennifer was an animal lover, never going without a pet of some kind, and she had a knack for picking out the best of the best – including her dogs Rocky, Roscoe, and Handsome. Most of all, Jennifer loved her family and friends, never failing to let them know just how much. Nothing brought her more pride and joy than her two boys, and nothing made her happier than watching them grow up, fall in love, and start their careers, always by each other's side. While it was not as long as all would have hoped, Jennifer's life was one full of love, laughter, and light, and she leaves behind a legacy that will live on forever through all the people she impacted in her days on Earth. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA on Wednesday, March 3rd at 4pm.
