His obituary: John Jennings, March 7, 1965 – January 5, 2024. John W. Jennings of Cumming, GA passed away at his home on Friday, January 5, 2024. John was born in March of 1965 in the city of Columbia, SC and moved to Marietta, GA in early 1970s where he attended JJ Daniel Middle School and was a1983 graduate of Sprayberry High School. John excelled in athletics and was a stand-out football and baseball player for the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets, playing varsity football and baseball as a sophomore. In addition to his full sports schedule John also worked at Paces River Crossing and Aunt Fanny's cabin during his high school days. John was the second scholarship baseball player in history of Kennesaw State University and was the first player to ever hit a grand slam in KSU baseball history. After graduation from KSU John began his career in the insurance industry where he spent over 30 years working at Sutter, McLellan & Gilbreath Agency as a top producer and manager. 1990 John married his wife Iliana and was father to three children Ashley, Reed and Taylor. Family was always first to John and he spent the majority of his non-working hours taking care of his sons and keeping them busy and entertained. During John's early high school days at Aunt Fanny's cabin he met George Pongo Poole who turned John into a Georgia Tech fan. While the rest of his family were UGA fans, John remained a loyal fan of GT his entire life which created many memorable Thanksgiving dinner debates over the annual Clean Ole Fashioned Hate rivalry. John was also an avid golfer and loved to go to beach where he could be heard singing Jimmy Buffet tunes at the top of his lungs. John will be dearly missed by many of his high school friends that he has remained close with all these years. John has also impacted many people he has worked with and for over the years in the insurance industry and will be remembered fondly by those fortunate enough to have known him. John touched many people's lives in a positive manner and he will be remembered in our hearts forever. John is proceeded in death by his Father, Horton W. Jennings, his Step-father, Pete C. Koskinas and his beloved mother Karen Reed Koskinas. Survivors include sister, Deborah Wright, and wife Iliana Jennings, both of Cumming GA; children, Ashley Jennings of Lakewood CO; Reed and Taylor Jennings of Cumming GA. Other survivors include Katy Sheppard (Patrick), Jackson Sheppard of Commerce GA; and Randy Wright Jr. (Lindsey), of Tampa FL, Rose-Ann Reed Schaeffer (George) of Hilton Head Island SC, and uncle, John Reed (Beth) of Upton MA; and Charles Koskinas (Marlene) of Fairfax, VA. A visitation will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 12:00PM-3:00PM, immediately followed by a 3:00PM service.
