His obituary: Fred Clayton Pope, August 16, 1964 – November 28, 2022. To know Clay is to be loved by Clay. Everything he did was done with the intention to love, to share, and to do right by the people in his life. Clay was a valued employee at MHP. He enjoyed being able to both learn from and mentor his colleagues. Clay loved investing in the home he shared with his partner, Lori. You could often find him sitting on the front porch, watching the sun set through the woods or napping in the pool. He loved to travel for work and with family, always wanting to share what he had with the people he cherished. Clay was most happy when he was with the people he loved and watching Alabama win. Clay died peacefully in his home with his family on November 28th after a short battle with late-stage cancer. He is survived by much of his family including his mother, Suzy, his beloved partner, Lori; his children, Noah, Caleb, Emily, Amelia, Eli and each of their partners; along with many friends and their children who he claimed as his own. Clay is deeply loved and his legacy of patience, generosity, and gentleness will live on. #RollTide. Visitation will be held at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 11th from 1pm-4pm with a memorial beginning at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, family is accepting letters of love and remembrance of Clay.
