Her obituary: Debra Debbie Clark O'Dell, September 25, 1961 – November 22, 2019. Debra Debbie Clark O'Dell, 58, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 22, 2019. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 1pm at Piedmont Church with Dr. Ike Reighard and Pastor Marlon Longacre officiating. Interment will be in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth. She was born on September 25, 1961 in Marietta, Georgia to William Bill Clark Jr. and Thelma White Clark. She graduated from Sprayberry High School class of 1979. She then went on to graduate from Kennesaw College with her Bachelor's of Education Degree. She finished out her education at Thomas University receiving her Master's of Education Degree. Her passion for teaching was evident throughout her 35 year tenure at Blackwell Elementary School, where her passion was teaching kindergarteners. She was well-loved by students, faculty, and staff, and was even awarded teacher of the year. Not only was she a celebrated educator, but she was also very involved in serving others. Her passion for helping people led her to be very involved at Piedmont Church, where she faithfully ran Café 570 and served in various other areas. She also served at The Hope Center crisis pregnancy center in Woodstock as a mentor and past Board President. She also was very involved with a Christian leadership ministry, Tres Dias, where her and Doug served on the secretariat, and consistently served on weekend retreats in various roles, including leading as a rector. She also served others through local and international missions in areas including Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Jersey, Bolivia, Jamaica, Wales, Mexico, and Brazil. Debra was a joyful, vibrant woman who loved impacting children's lives for the better, traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William Bill Clark Jr. She is survived by her husband, Doug L. O'Dell; daughter, Amanda O'Dell Beasley and husband Michael Beasley; son, Michael O'Dell; mother, Thelma White Clark; sisters, Sheila Bagwell, Joan Hunt, Joy Douglas and husband Steve Douglas, Gayle Winkler and husband Gary Winkler; and many nieces, nephews, and many other beloved family members. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and loving wife of 36 years, a devoted follower of Christ, and an A+ educator. Her servant spirit and contagious smile impacted everyone she came into contact with. The legacy she leaves behind is one of care and compassion that will leave an impact for generations to come. The family will receive friends Monday, November 25, 2019 from 6-8pm at Marietta Funeral Home and Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 12-1pm at Piedmont Church.
