His obituary: Arthur Benjamin Atchley III, April 20, 1961 – November 11, 2019. Arthur Benjamin Atchley III passed away on November 11, 2019 at his home in Smyrna, Georgia. He was born on April 20, 1961 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Ben Atchley Jr. and Barbara Batsche Atchley. Arthur grew up in Marietta, Georgia and attended Sprayberry High School, where he played football and earned a football scholarship to play at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. After he graduated from Newberry with a Bachelor's Degree in History, he worked in the insurance field for many years. He is preceded in death by his father, Ben Atchley Jr., and he is survived by his mother, Barbara Batsche of Smyrna, Georgia; three sisters, Karen Williams of Smyrna, Georgia, Amy Hunkler (Jim) of Marietta, Georgia, and Virginia Higgins (Keith) of Brunswick, Georgia; a maternal uncle, Dr. Frank Batsche of Mason, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews, Drew Higgins of Cumming, Georgia, Adam Higgins of Decatur, Georgia, Devin Higgins of Atlanta, Georgia, Claire Hunkler of Marietta, Georgia, and Sarah Higgins of Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send photographs of Arthur and written recollections of him to arthuratchleymemorial@gmail.com. A memorial service will be held at a later date, at which time any photographs and written recollections will be shared with those in attendance.
