Her obituary: Lauren Evatt Finley, April 15, 1958 – January 8, 2026. Lauren Evatt Finley, 67, of Powder Springs, GA, died on Thursday, January 8, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Mayes Ward Dobbins Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, GA. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay, GA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday. Born Lauren Faye Evatt to Donald Lewis Evatt and Julia Katherine (Eubanks) Evatt in Marietta GA. Lauren was an artist at heart and architect by trade. She was a painter, designer, bookmaker, weaver, artisan, and amateur historian, specializing in her family's genealogy. Lauren prized family, being close to her grandparents, many uncles, aunts, and cousins as well as being the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. Lauren was a longtime member of Crestview Baptist Church, now GracePointe Marietta Baptist Church. Lauren is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Ken Finley; her daughter, Suzannah Finley (Randy Jordan) of Dallas, GA; her son Taylor Finley (Hannah) of Powder Springs, GA; three grandchildren, Katherine, Madeline, Melody; two sisters, Karen Owen of Marietta, GA, Donna Beck (Doug) of Ellijay, GA; one brother, Tommy Evatt of Dallas, GA.
