Class of 1973

John Hogan. John died on August 25, 2024.

His obituary: Hogan, John F. John F. Hogan passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on August 25, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James, Sr. and Rosemary Hogan, and his sister, Margie H. Fallis. John leaves behind his brothers, Jim Hogan (Amy), twin brother, Pat Hogan (Donna), Tom Hogan, and sister, Sharon Agar (Tom), and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. John was a 1973 graduate of Sprayberry High School and attended West Georgia College on a golf scholarship pursuing his degree in Business Administration. Shortly after college, John became a PGA Professional golfer and the Pro and Teaching Professional at the Pine Isle Golf Club. Later he accepted a sales position with the King Green lawn care company and distinguished himself as a trusted and dependable associate. In 2019, he retired and dedicated himself to defeating his brothers and friends on the golf course, which he succeeded admirably. For those that knew him well he was known as Big John. With his deep voice and his 6' 4 frame, he was a Man's Man, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his friends and family. Yet underneath that imposing persona he had a heart that truly cared for the well-being of his family and friends. He always remembered those special days in the lives of his family with a call, gift or visit. His legacy will be that of a life well lived and he will always be remembered as a thoughtful, caring and compassionate man. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in John's memory to First Tee Atlanta, 1053 Cascade Circle SW, Atlanta, GA 30311.
