His obituary: Dale Lanier Brackett, November 30, 1954 – Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Dale Brackett, a proud Marine, dedicated firefighter, and beloved husband, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 70. A United States Marine through and through, Dale carried the values of honor, courage, and commitment into every part of his life. After serving his country, he went on to serve his community as a firefighter for the City of Marietta for 28 years, bravely protecting others and earning the respect of all who worked beside him. Off duty, Dale lived life on his own terms. A golfer with a love for the game, a motorcycle rider who relished the open road, and a fisherman who could spend hours casting a line, he found joy in both adventure and quiet moments. He loved spending time with friends, swapping stories–always with a quick wit that could make anyone laugh. Though stoic in nature, he deeply valued time with family, treasuring simple moments together. He had a fondness for old country music and classic black-and-white TV shows reflecting his love for tradition and the familiar. Dale leaves behind a legacy of service, loyalty, and humor, along with countless memories for those fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Brackett; son, Joey Brackett; granddaughter, Pru Brackett; stepdaughters, Ashley and Ansley Gasaway; and his father, Harold Brackett (Claire). He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Brackett, and his brothers, Jerry and Alan Brackett. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. A military service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come together, share memories, and honor a man who lived with strength, purpose, and heart.
