Her obituary: Melissa Weathington, October 8, 1954 – January 11, 2018. Melissa Lisa Burnette Weathington, age 63, of Kennesaw, GA, passed on Thursday, January 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Melissa was born in Cobb County, Georgia, on October 8, 1954 where she lived her entire life. She loved Southern gospel music, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her father; Sharon Butler and nephew; Chad Hunter. Melissa is survived by daughter; Amanda (Matthew) Hamilton, son; Darian (Jennifer Smith) Weathington, mother; Marilyn B. Butler, sister; Trina (Doug) Stell, grandchildren; Walker Hamilton, Lincoln Blue Weathington. Several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at Lakeside Funeral Home. The Funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at New Home Baptist Church in Woodstock, GA, with Rev. Don Williams and Rev. Larry Floyd officiating.
