His obituary: Calvin Williams, April 30, 1954 – July 21, 2024. Donald Calvin Williams passed on July 21, 2024. He was a gracious southern gentleman. Calvin had a loving spirit, and was a wonderfully funny husband, and godfather. Calvin was born April 30, 1954, to Don and Jane Williams at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA. As a small child, the little family moved to Kennesaw, GA. Later they moved to Bells Ferry Rd. Calvin was raised in the church, first at Wildwood Baptist and then as a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1972, where he enjoyed volleyball, track, and golf. As a young child, he played Little League baseball. As a young entrepreneur, Calvin bought his first house on Sessions Street in Marietta, GA at 19 years old. He enjoyed working at Johnny Walker Clothing Store. He moved later to New Smyrna Beach, FL, and took care of realtors' properties. When his father, Donald Anglin Williams, died when Calvin was 26, he returned to Marietta to help out his mother. Calvin and his mother Jane attended the Olympics in California in 1984. Then he began his own business as owner/operator of Williams Commercial Cleaning Company. Other trips included Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. He met and married Molly Ann Cory Williams in 1988. Later he worked at Publix in produce for 10 years and won several merits. Calvin retired at 53 years old in 2007. He really enjoyed dabbling in the stock market. Friends have said that to know him was to love him. They appreciated the wide variety of skills he possessed. He is survived by his wife, Molly, and his mother, Jane Williams Sherlock. He has several cousins and nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews. Calvin's handsome smile and being a sharp dresser were definite assets, as well as having a sly sense of humor. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home Historic Marietta Chapel at 180 Church St. NE in Marietta, on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
