His obituary: Lane – Mr. Michael Patrick Lane, age 60, of 474 Knight Road, Ranger, GA, passed away July 31, 2006 at the residence. He was born in Fulton County, June 29, 1946, son of the late Louis Herbert Lane, Sr. and Mollie Brown Lane. As a corporal in the Marine Corps he had served during the Vietnam Era, earning the Purple Heart and Presidential Unit Citation. He was a foreman at P.A. E. Trusses and was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Joyce Allen; and a brother, Erwin Thomas Shubert. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James Michael (Jim) and Lisa Lane of Acworth; 2 sisters, Margaret Lane Findley of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Elizabeth Ann (Lanier) Bryant of Adairsville; 2 brothers, Louis Herbert (Sandra) Lane, Jr. of Maryville, TN and Fredrick Joseph Conway (Deb) Lane of Gainesville, GA; 2 grandchildren, Courtney and Ansley Will; nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held Thursday (Aug. 3) at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Marietta National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
