His obituary: William Bill Greer Boyd Jr., July 27, 2025. William Bill Greer Boyd, Jr., 80, of Powder Springs, GA, died on Sunday, July 27, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hiram, GA, with Pastor Dr. John Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park located at 1306 Whitlock Ave, Marietta, GA. Mr. Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rita Edwards Boyd; three children: Christin Boyd of Woodstock, GA; Natalie Boyd of Kennesaw, GA; and William Brandon Boyd of Kennesaw, GA; his sister, Lisa Caddell (Larry) of Carthage, NC; two grandchildren, Lana Greer Schifano and Isaac Philip Schifano; and several nieces and nephews. He will best be remembered for his unwavering love for his wife, Rita–their relationship was a true example of partnership and devotion. In addition to being a loving husband, Bill was a devoted Christian, incredible father, affectionate brother, adoring grandfather, and faithful friend. He set a strong example of what it means to be a good man, and many have said, He was one of the best. There is truly no replacing him. He was, and will remain, deeply loved. Some of his family's fondest memories include the years he spent coaching his children's softball teams, playing guitar and sharing his love of music with them, and–most especially–retelling stories of the days when he and his best friend were known as Thunder and Lightning. From now on, when storms roll through the sky, those who loved Bill will smile and know that he and his best friend–Uncle Joe–are up there together, raising a little ruckus and waiting to welcome their loved ones with open arms. Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain with all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 205 Pace Road, Hiram, GA 30141. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel in Powder Springs is in charge of arrangements. www.mayeswarddobbins.com 770-943-1511
