Her obituary: Louise Elder Crapps, August 15, 1938 – July 22, 2026. Louise Elder Crapps, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on July 22, 2026, at the age of 87. Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Louise was a graduate of Sprayberry High School and the Massey Business College of Atlanta. Louise took great pride in the fact that she was a native of Cobb County dating back to 1836 with the arrival of her great, great grandparents, Lewis and Elizabeth Ash Thomas. In 1957, Louise began her banking career at Marietta Commercial Bank as the President's secretary. After 51 years in the banking industry, Louise retired from Wachovia Bank as a Licensed Financial Specialist and Senior Vice President. Louise was highly recognized in Georgia's Northwest business community for her leadership in the American Business Women's Association, where she was a charter member and past president of the Marietta Charter Chapter. She served as Chapter President as recent as August 2022 to 2023, and she enjoyed the many friendships, community service projects and activities of the ABWA. Louise was very active in the Marietta Civitan as President and Board Member. She participated in many service projects with her club such as MUST Ministries and ringing the Salvation Army Bell during the holidays. Louise held positions on the Georgia Civitan Board of Directors serving as Governor, and she chaired the Georgia Civitan Foundation. She was also a charter member and Director of the North Cobb Civitan Club. Louise was a beloved wife, sister and aunt whose warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her. She made her home in Marietta, where she built lasting friendships and created cherished memories with those closest to her. Louise will be remembered for her love of flowers, gardening, and her many civic duties. Louise is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Edwin W. Crapps, and her devoted brother, William E. Elder, Jr. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Ruby Crapps, her nephews, Thomas Elder (Pam), David Crapps (Mary Ellen), Lee Crapps, and Steve Crapps (Sumiko), her nieces, Cindy Earnheart (Charles), Carol Pineda (John), Kay Majure (Niles), Lisa Parker and Lara Rose, as well as many cherished great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, her many dear friends and her fluffy cat, Kevin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Elder and Irene Thomas Elder; brothers-in-law, Sam Crapps and Bobby Crapps; sister-in-law, Ruby Oliver; and nephews, Henry Hugh Oliver, Jr., and John E. Oliver. Louise's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta is in charge of arrangements.
