His obituary: James Ruben J.R. Holcomb. Mr. James Ruben J.R. Holcomb, 70, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2007, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Cobb County, GA, he had lived in Marietta all of his ife before moving to Pierce County in November. He was a retired welder with Southernmetalcraft and was a US Army veteran. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was also a gold star member of the Waffle House Coffee Club where he was known as Grump. He was a son of the late Ruben & Gladys Lee Hyde Holcomb. Survivors are his wife, Margaret Manning Holcomb of Blackshear; a daughter and son-n-law, Amanda & James Duckett of Blackshear; two sons and daughters-n-law, Bryan & Jennifer Holcomb of Buchanan, GA and Keith & Debbie Holcomb of Kennesaw, GA; his mother, Gladys Lee Hyde Holcomb of Marietta; a sister and brother-n-law, Virginia & Thomas Smith of Marietta; 9 grandchildren, Michael Holcomb, Daniel Holcomb, Heather Holcomb, Little J.R. Holcomb, Erin Holcomb, Claire Holcomb, Joel Holcomb, Zachary Duckett and Brittney Duckett; a great grandchild, Isabella Holcomb, and several nieces, nephews & other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Holcomb will be held Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2007, at 3:00 o'clock from the Pine Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Ben James Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Holcomb will be held Friday evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Holcomb will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
